Lotus Dog – Remix Style
Extended dance remixes now available! Up and coming San Francisco talent Robin Livingston produced two great danceable remixes of Lotus Dog songs Breathe and Overflowing. Both songs are available now in the Lotus Dog store on the new CD - Breathe. Robin was drawn to Jolie and TSO’s uplifting lyrical content and melody that he felt were a perfect fit for the dance floor.
With the first track, Breathe, Robin wanted to give a different slant to electronic music where the two step beat is often dominated by a shallow message. Here, he wanted to convey the transformative feeling of release and joy with his tracks. Robin decided to use some left-over spoken word pieces which didn't make the final mix of Breathe, which he interwove throughout his remix version. These included multi-lingual translations of "love is the answer" - some spoken in French, some in Yoruba.
Robin's eleven minute version of Breathe gives ample time to get into a good dance groove and let your body become an expression of love.
Overflowing, also featured on the disc, is a straight dub track interlaced with Spanish guitar and is mellow, ethereal and moving. This seven minute track is more trance like.
Robin, who has been a musician since age 6 and programmed MIDI by age 13, has always been drawn to the balance of electronic music and real instruments. He enjoys all genres of music and was captivated by the international flavor of Lotus Dog.
